Compared to the Dawes Spire 1.0, the Spire 2.0 introduces several meaningful upgrades that improve performance and usability. The Shimano CUES 1x9-speed drivetrain delivers smoother, more efficient shifting, while the larger 540Wh battery significantly extends riding range. A sleek, centre-mounted handlebar display provides a clear and intuitive view of your ride data at a glance.

Battery & Motor Power

The crossbar frame houses a neatly integrated 540Wh battery, offering a range of up to 60 miles (97km) on a full charge (terrain and usage dependent). Power comes from a 250W Bafang rear hub motor producing 32Nm of torque, delivering smooth, predictable assistance that makes hills easier and flat routes effortless.

Built using high-quality Samsung battery cells, the system meets UK and EU safety standards for reliability and peace of mind. Charging can be done on or off the bike, with a full charge taking approximately 6 hours, and the integrated battery lock helps keep the unit secure when parked.

Ride Experience & Technology

The centre-mounted display keeps all key ride information clearly visible, while a side-mounted remote allows you to change settings without removing your hands from the handlebars.

With five pedal-assist levels, along with real-time speed, average speed, maximum speed, trip distance, and trip time, you have complete control over every ride. A walk-assist mode is also included, making it easier to push the bike up steep inclines when off the saddle.

Control & Comfort

For confident handling and control, the Spire 2.0 features Shimano CUES 1x9-speed gearing and Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes, providing consistent stopping power in both wet and dry conditions. A 70mm travel suspension fork with hydraulic lockout smooths out uneven surfaces, whether riding through town or along country trails.

Comfort-focused components include a Selle Royal Freeway saddle, ergonomic grips, and lightweight alloy pedals. Fast-rolling 700x45c Kenda tyres offer excellent grip and built-in puncture protection, while reflective detailing improves visibility in low-light conditions.
