DELIVERY & SHIPPING

Order Confirmation:

Upon placing your order with TopDogBikes, we will pre-authorize your card to verify payment, but your card will not be charged until we confirm product availability. We will promptly check with our supplier to ensure that your chosen item is ready for immediate shipment. Once confirmed, your payment will be processed, and your order will be dispatched. If there is any delay, such as an item being on backorder, we will cancel the pre-authorization and notify you accordingly.

Order Delivery:

For items currently in stock, your card will be charged, and your order will be dispatched within 5 working days. You will receive tracking details via email within 24 hours of dispatch. If you do not receive tracking information within 6 working days, please contact us at info@topdogbikes.com for assistance.

Our Couriers: We use reputable couriers such as DPD, UK Mail, DHL, FedEx, and UPS to ensure secure and timely deliveries.

Free UK Mainland Delivery:

Orders over £500.00 qualify for free delivery to mainland UK. Deliveries to offshore islands (e.g., Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland) will incur shipping costs calculated as per the E-Bike manufacturer's delivery policy, minus the mainland delivery cost.

Damages:

Please inspect all items upon delivery. We strongly recommend refusing delivery of any damaged items. In case you discover any damage, please send clear photos to info@topdogbike.com to facilitate an insurance claim.

Shipping Damage Claims:

Inspect your products immediately upon receipt. Claims for shipping damage cannot be accepted beyond 14 days from receipt. Please note any damage on the Bill of Lading and document it with photographs, including dates. Retain all packaging and paperwork until the inspection process is complete.

Cancellations & Refunds:

Orders cancelled after 48 hours may be subject to additional fees. If your order has already been dispatched, you are responsible for return shipping costs. Refunds will be issued only to the original payment method.

Cooling Off Period:

You have a 14-day cooling-off period for purchases made without physically seeing the product, unless the item is bespoke or made to measure. For more details on cooling-off periods, please refer to Citizens Advice.

Legal Notice: E-Bike and E-Scooter Use in the UK

We appreciate you considering purchasing an e-bike or e-scooter from Top Dog Bikes. It is important to be aware of the legal requirements in the UK to ensure both safety and compliance with the law.

E-Bikes (Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles, or EAPCs)

Key Legal Points

Classification as an EAPC

  • The bike must have pedals that can be used to propel it.
  • The motor must not exceed a maximum power output of 250 watts.
  • The motor must not provide assistance once the bike reaches 15.5 mph (25 km/h).

Riding Requirements

  • Riders must be at least 14 years old.
  • No license, insurance, or vehicle tax is required.

Where You Can Ride

EAPCs are permitted on cycle paths, and any area where regular bicycles are allowed.

They cannot be used on pavements or pedestrian-only zones.

EAPC Identification

Your e-bike must display either the manufacturer's name and power output or a sticker showing compliance with EAPC regulations.

E-Scooters

Key Legal Points:

Privately Owned E-Scooters

  • It is illegal to use privately owned e-scooters on public roads, pavements, cycle lanes, or pedestrian areas.
  • They may only be used on private land with the landowner's permission.

Rental E-Scooters

The UK government is running e-scooter rental trials in select locations.

Riders must: 

  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Hold a provisional driving licence
  • Follow local regulations on where e-scooters can be ridden (typically cycle lanes and roads)
  • Rental e-scooters are insured by the operator

Helmets and Safety

While wearing a helmet is recommended, it is not a legal requirement.

Riders must adhere to local speed limits and safety guidelines.

Penalties for Non-Compliance

Using a privately owned e-scooter in restricted areas or riding an e-bike that does not meet EAPC standards may result in:

  • Fixed penalty notices
  • Points added to your driving licence
  • Fines for operating an uninsured or unlicensed vehicle

The Dawes Elegance blends timeless heritage style with the modern convenience of electric power assist, bringing a new level of enjoyment to our most popular classic bike, the Dawes Duchess.

At first glance, the Elegance frame captures the charm of traditional steel designs, but it’s actually crafted from lightweight aluminium, making it easier to handle, more comfortable to ride, and effortlessly smooth to control.

Its relaxed geometry and balanced feel make it perfect for riding around town, exploring local parks, or cruising along scenic canal paths.

Powering your ride is a 375Wh battery, neatly integrated into the rear pannier rack, delivering up to 40 miles (64km) of assistance on a single charge.

Recharging takes just 5 hours, and for added convenience, the battery can be removed and charged on or off the bike. A key-lock system ensures security when parked in public spaces.

The 250W Bafang rear hub motor offers 32Nm of torque, making hills feel effortless and flat terrain an absolute joy to a top speed of 15.5mph.

With five power assist modes, you can choose the perfect level of support using the intuitive LED handlebar display, which also shows battery level and speed. 

Need an extra hand when walking the bike uphill? The walk assist mode engages the motor to help push the bike along.

For smooth and reliable gear changes, we’ve fitted the Elegance with a 7-speed Shimano Tourney drivetrain and an easy-to-use Revoshift twist shifter.

Low-maintenance V-brakes provide strong stopping power, while Innova puncture-protected tyres add an extra layer of durability against unexpected flats. 

Ergonomic grips and a plush Selle Royal Freeway saddle ensure an exceptionally comfortable ride.

The swept-back handlebars naturally position you in an upright, relaxed posture, while the adjustable stem allows you to customize the fit for added comfort.

To make every journey as practical and enjoyable as possible, the Dawes Elegance comes fully equipped with a pannier rack, full-length mudguards, and a chain guard to keep your clothes clean and dry in any weather.
