Our Journey

 

My name is Vincent Inman, after retiring from a 35-year career in the motor industry due to arthritis, and an old leg injury, I needed a new path.

 

My lifelong passion for bikes—both bicycles and motorcycles—led the way.

As my knee pain worsened, cycling—the activity I once loved—became nearly impossible.

That all changed during a visit to friends in Amsterdam, where we discovered their everyday mode of transport: the electric bike. One ride was all it took—I was hooked.

Unlike traditional cycling, e-bikes didn’t put strain on my knees, and for the first time in years, I could enjoy the freedom of riding again.

Guida, my wife, was just as inspired. Together, we realized how many people in the UK could benefit from this same experience.

With my background in engineering and her 30 years of customer service expertise, we set out on a mission: to make e-bikes accessible for everyone, while promoting fun, health, and sustainable transport.

After months of research and preparation, Top Dog Bikes was born.

Delivery & Shipping

Order Confirmation:

Upon placing your order with TopDogBikes, we will pre-authorize your card to verify payment, but your card will not be charged until we confirm product availability. We will promptly check with our supplier to ensure that your chosen item is ready for immediate shipment. Once confirmed, your payment will be processed, and your order will be dispatched. If there is any delay, such as an item being on backorder, we will cancel the pre-authorization and notify you accordingly.

Order Delivery:

For items currently in stock, your card will be charged, and your order will be dispatched within 5 working days. You will receive tracking details via email within 24 hours of dispatch. If you do not receive tracking information within 6 working days, please contact us at info@topdogbikes.com for assistance.

Our Couriers: We use reputable couriers such as DPD, UK Mail, DHL, FedEx, and UPS to ensure secure and timely deliveries.

Free UK Mainland Delivery:

Orders over £500.00 qualify for free delivery to mainland UK. Deliveries to offshore islands (e.g., Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland) will incur shipping costs calculated as per the E-Bike manufacturer's delivery policy, minus the mainland delivery cost.

Damages:

Please inspect all items upon delivery. We strongly recommend refusing delivery of any damaged items. In case you discover any damage, please send clear photos to info@topdogbike.com to facilitate an insurance claim.

Shipping Damage Claims:

Inspect your products immediately upon receipt. Claims for shipping damage cannot be accepted beyond 14 days from receipt. Please note any damage on the Bill of Lading and document it with photographs, including dates. Retain all packaging and paperwork until the inspection process is complete.

Cancellations & Refunds:

Orders cancelled after 48 hours may be subject to additional fees. If your order has already been dispatched, you are responsible for return shipping costs. Refunds will be issued only to the original payment method.

Cooling Off Period:

You have a 14-day cooling-off period for purchases made without physically seeing the product, unless the item is bespoke or made to measure. For more details on cooling-off periods, please refer to Citizens Advice.

FAQ's

Do I need a license to ride an electric bike?

No. In the UK you must be over 14 years old to ride an electric bike however you don’t need a licence, tax or registration.

Are Electric Bikes Road Legal?

EAPC Rules: Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle

To be road legal in the UK, electric bikes must comply with specific EAPC (Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle) regulations:

Pedals Required: The bike must have pedals, and the rider must be able to use them to propel the bike.

Speed Limitation: The electric motor must not assist the bike beyond 15.5 mph (25 km/h).

Power Output: The motor's maximum power output must not exceed 250 watts.

Additionally, EAPC-approved e-bikes must include a device that displays either:

The motor's power output or manufacturer.

The battery voltage or maximum speed.

If
an electric bike exceeds the 250-watt power output or the 15.5 mph
speed limit, it cannot be used on UK public roads without obtaining type
approval, insurance, tax, a number plate, and passing an MOT.

Only
e-bikes that meet EAPC regulations can be used on UK public roads
without requiring tax, insurance, or registration. For more information
on EAPC regulations, visit: UK Government Electric Bike Rules.

If
you purchase an e-bike that does not comply with these rules, it can
only be used off-road on private land unless you secure the necessary
type approval, insurance, tax, number plate, and MOT. Please note that
you will be responsible for obtaining these requirements.

What delivery options do you have?

How long will delivery take?

note at checkout, and we'll do our best to accommodate your request.

How much do you charge for home delivery?

Standard
delivery is free for all mainland UK addresses. If you're located off
the mainland, please get in touch for a delivery quote.

What is your Orders & Payment policy?

I haven't received my order confirmation.
If you
didn’t receive an order confirmation email, please check your junk or
spam folders, as they can sometimes end up there. If you still can't
find it, reach out to us at info@topdogbikes.com. It’s possible there was a typo in your email address, and we can easily fix that.

I’m having trouble at checkout.
We’re
sorry to hear you’re experiencing issues. If your debit or credit card
is being declined, please contact your bank, as we can’t control payment
methods. If your bank has sent you an authorization message, you’ll
need to complete that before trying to pay again. If your issue is

message. If it hasn't shipped yet, we can usually stop the shipment and
issue a refund. Note that returned products must be in ‘as new’
condition, with all components and original packaging included, and
there will be a charge for the return.

What is your return policy?
